What we do

생태조경설계연구실은 지속가능한 사회를 위해 사회생태시스템의 동태성을 분석하고 회복력있는 에코인프라 디자인을 위한 실험적 사고와 실천에 집중한다. 이와 더불어 시스템다이내믹스, 지오디자인, 통계 등을 활용하여 도시, 농촌, 해안 및 생태민감지역의 생태계서비스를 증진시키기 위한 다각적 연구를 수행하고 있다. 

This lab analyzes dynamics of social ecological systems and develops planning and design innovations for resilient eco-infrastructures to sustain our communities.  We make best use of research methods such as System Dynamics, Geodesign, and statistics to learn how to better provide ecosystem services to urban, rural, coastal, and ecologically sensitive areas. 

특히 리질리언스 사고의 이론적 토대와 학문간 융합을 바탕으로 다양한 공간에서 발생하는 예기치 못한 자연재해와 그로 인한 사회적 영향에 현명하게 적응하기 위한 생태조경설계에 역점을 두고 있다.  최근에는 기후변화적응을 위한 다양한 해법들을 모색하며 인간과 자연이 하나의 사회생태시스템으로 공존할 수 있는 지속가능한 방법에 대한 조경의 지평을 확장하고 있다. 

Work in the lab is built on the Integration of resilience theory and a transdisciplinary approach. With principles of ecological landscape design, we investigate disruptive natural events at all scales and promote adaptive design solutions that best support specific resilience goals.  Recent projects are incorporating with climate change adaptation to identify sustainable ways that humans and nature are strongly coupled to be conceived as one Social-Ecological System.
